During the past few months that we have been afflicted with the presidential campaigns, I keep hearing a common note from both campaigns; they both claim to bring "leadership" to the American people.
A politician's job is not to be a leader, but to represent his constituents.
You want to know what a leader is for?
It is for these types here:
Just remember, the only reason a shepherd leads his sheep is to shear them on a regular basis, and cull them when they are of no more use.
Both The Coot and Golden Messiah-Boy claim they have what it takes to lead us.
Newsflash: I don't want to be led, because I'm not lost. I want someone who takes orders from the folks who pay him, namely WE THE PEOPLE.
If you want a representative, vote in the elections for someone to represent you; if all you want to do is play Follow-the-Leader, join a cult.
Just my opinion.

Tamara sounds off about the candidates; she says it a lot better than I could.
One side is offering me politicians acting like politicians, which is to say power-hungry, callous, and scheming; the other side is trying to offer me politicians acting like missionaries, and that scares the crap out of me. Given a choice between the devil I know and the devil I don't, I'm going to stick with the one I know. Especially if the one I don't is offering me milk and cookies. If you feel like she strikes a familiar note, read the whole thing.

The Dems are desperate, and that may or may not be a good thing. Either way, we gotta get to the polls and vote on Tuesday.
Hopefully, the better man will win.
Sometimes I just feel like giving up on all pols and politics...then I remember thats what they want.
I wish I had some fascinating comment to leave, but this election is wearing me out.
And I completely agree with you. We are their bosses, but it doesn't really matter to them. Like the bail out--most people were completely against it and some started to sway once the media started using its scare tactics, but even so the majority were still against it but our peeps didn't listen to us. I saw an interview with a guy who said something like, I know my constituents don't want this, but I need to do what's best for our country.
Yeah, how's that working out?
wyatt: I'm not sure there is a better man; I just hope the worst one loses. Neither one of them is someone I'd actually vote for.
thud: People don't get any where by giving up; that's why we can't just quit.
plunger girl: The election is wearing everyone out, I think. The government is sort of like the old insurance scam the Mafia used to use; you pay the bosses not to hurt you. The difference between it and the government is that instead of insurance it's called taxes, and we get to choose/elect which thug comes around to collect.
Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line"
My favorite solo number from Waylon, and a fine on-target rant that was.

Excellent point, Bob.
pistolero: Just about anything from Waylon is good, that one is one of his best.
james: Too bad more politicians aren't apprised of that fact, isn't it?
I agree with your analogy that we are NOT sheep.
Bob
You said it all in a nut shell and I agree with you 100%. I also believe that most americans are sheep and follow whoever is offering the biggest handout.
If we have to pay tax make it a flat tax and be done with it
I'm with you. We are not sheep. And I'm tired of the campaigns trying to convince me that one or the other is smarter, superior to and holds higher standards than the other.

Yup. My only hope is that McCain wins, so that we don't have to see how much worse the Messiah is, and can take the time to prep Palin for the job later.
The thing that really worries me is any time the president and the congress are all the same party; I'd rather see it split up for some balance. The idea of Obama and Pelosi working together is enough to give a libertarian nightmares.
That's a very insightful observation, and you are right we should be represented, not lead.
