Separatists claim responsibility for California wildfires

ORANGE COUNTY, California (CNN) -- Radical Hispanic separatist organization MEChA ("Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan") is taking responsibility for setting the wildfires in California, confimed Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
California officials received a letter earlier today containing photographs of individuals holding Molotov cocktails, then throwing them into dry brush. The faces of the individuals appeared to have been digitally distorted.

Also included was a rambling manifesto, stating that the reason for the act of arson was that "Aztlán belongs to indigenous people, the Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán. We are sovereign and not subject to a foreign culture."

Orange County Fire Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion told CNN that the pattern of wildfires definitely indicates arson.

If this is true, we may have a bigger problem than originally thought; this amounts to terrorism when a group attacks civilians. There may be some interesting times to come.

Update:

This has turned out to be a hoax, luckily. Glad that it does not seem to be true at this time; this could have gotten really ugly.

Not at all surprised.

Of course, one would have to wonder why these IDIOTS think that burning half a state is going to help their cause in any way. You'd figure if they really consider themselves the indigenous people, they'd want to not burn down THEIR OWN LAND.

Every time a "repressed people" get pissed off they burn their own town. Idiots. I hope they bring back the gallows for these cretins.

Mauser girl, the indians didn't think anything of setting entire praries on fire to heard Bison to where it was easy to kill a couple.
The 'indginous' people didn't ruin it because they were so diverse that nature healed what they ruined.

I'm just wondering WHICH native/indiginous language those members of MEkkOS speak?
If they speak spanish, wouldn't that like show the influence of the evil european WHITE males?
And I'm sure their religious rituals involve torture and cannabalism just like the natives.

Anytime you hear about something going down in California, I usually ASSUME its a hoax until proven otherwise ;) So many people out there looking for attention, thinking they are so dang witty...

And now, because of and as a result of a HOAX, a number of inherently biased and bigotted people believe that their prejudice is well-founded.

I'm wondering if it is at all possible to identify the FIRST blogger that spread this rumor/hoax.

One problem is that, if you have had any contact with the Aztlan movement, it is not that unbelievable that something like that could happen. I have run into quite a few of them, and many of them are determined that everyone but them should be eliminated from the New World, by force if necessary.

and as to Stormwarning's Q

John Civil/Rights Activist, I believe my question is who originated the pass along post. When its known, I'll bet that it was one of the more widely read "conservative blogs" that consider themselves watchdogs.

Yes, I agree about readers and commenters launching into racial hatred. The bigger problem is that it happened on every blog where the "cnnheadlienews" article was repeated.
