High-tech fence on Ariz. border delayed

WASHINGTON (AP) — Technical issues are delaying the completion of a multibillion-dollar high-tech fence intended to reduce illegal entry along the nation's southern border, the government said Thursday.

The first phase of the project involves building nine towers that are dotted along 28 miles of the Arizona-Mexico border, and bracket the Sasabe port of entry.

So the Bronze Age Egyptians were able to build The Great Pyramid of Giza using nothing but manpower and ropes, but a superpower in the Nuclear Age can't seem to build a fence...
Maybe someone should study some Roman engineering to see how it's done.
Sounds like the typical sort of thing we see contractors for the government do; come up with a winning bid, and then find ways to gouge and jack up the price later. Business as usual.
Just my opinion.

You can always come up with excuses to keep from doing a job you really don’t want to do. I believe that is what we are seeing here. The government does not want to secure the border. The government will prosecute you for not wearing your seatbelt (should be freedom of choice) but will not prosecute someone who breaks our immigration laws.

Do you really think the government is going to build a fence? Dont kid yourself. If Bush was serious about securing our nation, the border would be the first thing sealed up and secured! But he, and the rest of our disgraceful politicians have SOLD the American people OUT!

Vist www.spp.gov (Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America) and see just how America is being driven towards an EU style government between the US, Canada, and Mexico!

NAFTA was only the beginning!

I'm an avid skateboarder and I get tickets and have been to jail for what they, the systems, calls "CRIMINAL TRESSPASSING," but and illegal alien whose commiting a felony is granted amnesty and awarded free health care at our expense!

It's also an example of Less Government works better than More - the inter-agency balkanization is thick and events are set into rigor-mortis instead of into action.
Hell if Cal-Trans were to do it it would take ten years and come in eleven billion over budget, and collapse in an earthquake...
